SUNY Oswego provides high-quality testing services to our community to ensure accessibility, convenience, and test integrity. We offer testing services for course placement, make-up exams, program-specific testing, professional certification, and graduate school exams.

NYSTCE

The New York State Teacher Certification Examinations™ (NYSTCE®) address New York Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations, which require prospective New York State educators to pass designated tests as a requirement for receiving state certification.

College Level Examination Program

Earn credit for what you already know by getting qualifying scores on any of the available CLEP examinations.

Language Testing International

Language Testing International (LTI) allows students to demonstrate proficiency in languages. LTI offers additional language proficiency exams beyond CLEP’s options of French, Spanish, and German.

DANTES Subject Standardized Tests

DSST exams are college subject tests that you can take to earn college credit for knowledge you have already learned outside of a traditional classroom, saving you both tuition funds and time toward your college degree.

Test Proctoring and Make-Up Examinations

SUNY Oswego's Division of Extended Learning offers test proctoring and make-up exam services to our students as well as students from other colleges/universities.

Step 1

Schedule Your Exam Time

Testing is regularly scheduled on Wednesdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

Faculty - Please email testingandproctoring@oswego.edu for students needing a make-up exam at least 24 hours prior to requested testing date. We are unable to accommodate same-day requests.

Students - Please contact your instructor first to verify that you qualify for a make-up exam before attempting to schedule one. Email testingandproctoring@oswego.edu to schedule once your instructor verifies your eligibility.

Additional testing hours may be available during mid-term and final testing sessions. Email testingandproctoring@oswego.edu or call 315.312.2270 for information.

Step 2

Pay the Testing Fee

SUNY Oswego Students:
No Fee: There is no fee if the exam is related to SUNY Oswego programs and courses.
$20 Fee: If you are taking exams for other institutions.

Non-SUNY Oswego Students:
$20 Fee: You are required to pay the fee for all exams administered at SUNY Oswego.

Testing fee is subject to change.

Location & Parking

Tests are administered on SUNY Oswego's main campus at the Testing Center located at 314 Sheldon Hall. If you are not a SUNY Oswego student, you will need to purchase a temporary parking permit. One-day visitor permits are $3 per day. Visitor parking permits can be obtained in-person at the Parking Office, 7044 NYS 104, or online via our parking portal.
