Conversion scholarships change to loans if the scholarship recipients fail to meet the specified obligations outlined in the scholarship agreement. Obligations typically include working in a particular profession or geographic location for a set period after graduation.
Federal TEACH Grant
You must agree to teach as a highly qualified teacher in a high-need field.
NYS Excelsior Scholarship
You must agree to reside and work in NYS for the same number of years you receive the award. Designed to boost New York State’s workforce, the Excelsior Scholarship promises more tuition-free degrees for middle-class New Yorkers.
NYS Math & Science Teacher Incentive Scholarship
You must agree to work for five years as a secondary school math or science teacher.
NYS Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Incentive Program
You must agree to reside and work in NYS for five years in the field of science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
Note: Students may not have a service obligation under another program. For example, students may not hold both the Federal TEACH Grant and a NYS Math and Science Teacher Incentive Program award at the same time.
