New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP) updates (includes the Empire Plan and HMOs) based on expiration of COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Period

The federal government has announced that May 11, 2023 will be the last day of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency period, therefore related health insurance benefits will be subject to your usual plan coverage. This means that effective May 12, 2023, special cost share waivers such as no-cost over-the-counter (OTC) tests put in place during the emergency period will end. However, COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters will continue to be covered in full with no out-of-pocket cost if a network pharmacy or provider is used.
