Health Fee and Insurance

Health and Well-being at SUNY Oswego Flyer (PDF)

Services and programs offered at Health Services are supported by the mandatory health fee, which is paid as part of the college bill. Part-time enrolled students who are not taking classes during the summer or winter session and wish to continue to access services provided through the Health Fee will be charged a fee for usage. Students pay the health fee on a credit hour basis.

Student Accounts page

Fall 2025- Spring 2026 Health fee is $217.50/semester

The health fee covers:

  1. Health Services Center
  2. Counseling Services Center
  3. Health and Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Education events

The Mary Walker health fee is a mandatory fee charged to all students (In-person, on the Syracuse campus, and online students) for access to services provided and to cover the costs associated with operating health services, counseling services and health promotion and education. The Fee funds both in-person and remote programs. Primary health care services and counseling services are offered in the Mary Walker complex, as well as through telemedicine and telecounseling platforms. The fee is not a user fee.

Student Health Insurance

It is mandatory that all SUNY Oswego students have adequate health insurance. Please visit the Auxiliary Services Health Insurance information website or contact that office at 315.312.2107 for additional information. While the insurance requirement may be waived for domestic students under certain circumstances, SUNY provided health insurance is mandatory for all international students. International students can find more information about this requirement on the International Student and Scholars Services website under General Questions. For domestic students, prior to submitting any waiver, please be sure that your insurance policy covers outpatient medical charges in this community (i.e. labs, x-rays, medical imaging, referrals to specialists).

Bills

The laboratory (Lab Alliance of CNY in most cases) will bill either the insurance company or the patient directly. If we have insurance information at the time of the visit, we will send it to the lab on behalf of the patient. It is the responsibility of the patient to provide insurance information, and to know the financial aspects of their own policy. Staff at the Health Services are not responsible for "co-pays," and can't guarantee if a test is covered. If you have any questions regarding bills from Lab Alliance please call 315.461.3008.
