Possibility Scholarship

Financial support. Faculty-mentored research. International learning.

The Possibility Scholarship supports high-achieving first-year students from New York state who have significant financial need and plan to pursue an eligible science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) major at SUNY Oswego.

In coordination with other grants and scholarships, the program provides financial support for tuition, mandatory fees, room and board for four years. Possibility Scholars also complete rigorous summer research with a faculty mentor and receive support for an international learning experience.

The program is designed to expand access to STEM education while preparing scholars for advanced study, meaningful careers and leadership in their fields.

The Possibility Scholar experience

Four years of financial support

The scholarship works in coordination with other grants and scholarships to provide support for undergraduate tuition, mandatory fees, room and board for four years at SUNY Oswego.

Faculty-mentored summer research

Scholars receive a stipend plus room and board while completing rigorous, hands-on research on the Oswego campus. Each student works closely with a faculty mentor matched to their academic interests and career goals, gaining research experience, strengthening critical-thinking skills and building valuable professional relationships.
