With great pleasure and admiration, the Department of Art and Design at SUNY Oswego presents the fall, BFA graduating class of 2020.
Every semester, students earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree must prove their right to the degree by completing and presenting a body of work that serves as a visual thesis. This rite of passage event provides proof to the community that they are emerging from college as visual art professionals. As with many rites of passage in the age of COVID-19, the fall class of 2020 was denied that opportunity. As this catalog demonstrates, that exhibition would have been one of the strongest in a long history of outstanding BFA shows.
To the class of 2020, thank you. Your flexibility, understanding, and tenacity have been inspiring. You deserved so much more than what was given to you. I can only hope that we will all be able to bask in the glow of your collective achievement one day. Until then, to borrow from popular culture, “Live Long and Prosper.”
