Biography

Lea Kochis is from Binghamton, New York, and is currently attending SUNY Oswego to finish her BFA. She aims to take part in the MAT program to pursue her dreams of becoming an art teacher as a career. She enjoys working in various mediums, but her strength lies in digital illustration, where she fancies drawing fantasy creatures and scenes.

Artist Statement

Much of my work revolves around illustration, be it painting or sketching traditionally. Recently I've enjoyed learning how to work digitally and aim to improve my skills in the medium. I gain a lot of motivation from video games and movies; sometimes, I even indulge in drawing "fan art" of them from time to time to loosen up from college projects. For a few years now, I've been developing my characters to draw so I can explore new themes, and I'm always ready to take an idea and run with it.

It features a medicine sale, a good deal for enchanted items, and a fortune reading. There are also a few wanted posters with various different characters. Such as a sea captain, a shark humanoid, and a horned alien smuggler.

Two warriors are getting ready for an adventure, one warrior clad in armor readies his steed, which is a pink lion that looks like its fur is sprouting orchid petals. The second warrior is a rogue, donning a mask and wearing cloth armor. He brings his steed over and greeting his friend. His own mount is that of a purple deer, its antlers curling between each other like tree branches. Flowers bloom from each tip of the ‘branch’ as it awaits its riders’ orders.

It features a view of various library shelves filled with different objects instead of books. Some contain fish tanks of various types of fish, video game references, beetles, snakes, and below there are various rooms containing albums and plants. The library continues onward until it disappears from view, fading into darkness while the ceiling is illuminated by stars hanging from the ceiling.

Some contain fish tanks of various types of fish, video game references, beetles, snakes, and below there are various rooms containing albums and plants. The library continues onward until it disappears from view, fading into darkness while the ceiling is illuminated by stars hanging from the ceiling.

This piece features the full-body depiction of a geisha woman, however, her face and body are slightly altered into a grotesque looking form. Instead of a jaw, her mouth is comprised of two hands, reaching outwards like mandibles as the fingers hide teeth.
