Biography

Molly Williamson was born and raised in the outskirts of Syracuse, New York, in Navarino. As a student attending Onondaga Central High school, she frequently made high marks. Molly was often recognized for her academic excellence. Before graduating high school, she pursued an equivalency diploma through SUNY Onondaga Community College and graduated a year ahead of schedule. Her first degree was in Liberal Arts, which was later switched to Graphic Design. In the Fall of 2018, Molly transferred to SUNY Oswego to continue her studies of Graphic Design in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. At SUNY Oswego, she received the Class of 1937 Scholarship, the Academic Excellence Scholarship and made her way to the President's List. In her later semesters at Oswego, she discovered her passion for teaching. Molly has decided to continue her education and intends to pursue a Masters in Fine Arts to teach at a college level.

Artist Statement

My work in this exhibition reflects who I am and what I stand for. A large portion of my work here is illustration based, which is where my passion has always been. In my time at Oswego, I've tried to incorporate things I'm passionate about in my work, like climate change, mental health, and discrimination against black Americans. These issues are important to me, and the ability to incorporate my passion into those issues has been extremely fulfilling.
