Following a family move to Williamstown, New York, in 2015, Michael began looking at going back to college to pursue an education in art. Michael earned an Associate of Science in Studio Art and Design from Cayuga Community College in the spring of 2018. Michael then enrolled at SUNY Oswego to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While at Oswego, Michael has had artwork shown in the 57th Annual Juried Student Exhibition, served as the reservations coordinator and president of the Arts Alive club, and has volunteered as a teaching assistant for the At the Art Studio program for students in first through twelfth grade. Artist Statement

In seeking to become an Art Teacher, I have studied several fields within the Fine Arts. My passion, however, is Painting. Whether in watercolor or oil, I have developed an interest in Ceramics and Woodworking in my time at SUNY Oswego.

Outside of my academic studies and the artwork made therein. I believe that art should tell a story. To that end, the focus of my art is depicting the fantastical worlds that inhabit my imagination. In particular, my art draws from my ideas of a fantasy world named Ameritia. Color plays a significant role in how I visualize Ameritia. The foliage of blues, the violet skies, the emerald hills, the ruby and sapphire mountains, and the green clouds. I utilize a mixture of traditional painting and drawing mediums, including oil, watercolor, and soft pastel, the selection of which is predicated by the imagery and feel I’m looking to create and evoke. Specific subject matters include figures, creatures, landscapes, and combinations therein.

My techniques and process are informed by the qualities inherent to the medium used for a particular artwork and the subject matter. My BFA Exhibition reflects this variety of interests, mediums, and fields of study.
