Minimum wage increase for student assistant employees
The Minimum Wage for Student Assistant Employees is increasing from $11.80 to $12.50 per hour, effective December 24, 2020. All Student Assistant employees currently paid below $12.50 will receive an automatic wage increase to the new minimum and no action is necessary.

Option Transfer Period, Opt Out Program Enrollment and Tax Change Period Reminder
This is a reminder that the Option Transfer Period, Opt Out Program Enrollment, and Tax Change Period will end on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Please return your signed and completed enrollment forms to the Office of Human Resources by one of the following methods:
Annual Leave Expiration Extension – UUP and MC Employees
We are pleased to inform you that the annual vacation accrual cap has been extended. Normally, any vacation accruals in excess of 40 days at the close of business on December 31st are forfeited to bring vacation leave credits down to 40 days on January 1st. However, unused annual leave can now be carried over for an additional year through December 31, 2021.
These changes will automatically be reflected in the SUNY Time and Attendance system. No action on your part is necessary.
SUNY, PEF agree to extend free, mandatory COVID-19 testing of PEF-represented employees
State University of New York Chancellor Jim Malatras and New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) President Wayne Spence today extended an agreement to conduct free, mandatory COVID-19 testing of all PEF-represented employees at SUNY state-operated colleges, universities, and hospitals. Routine testing for PEF-represented employees will now continue through the end of the spring semester. The preexisting agreement was set to expire on December 31, 2020. United University Professions (UUP) and The Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) recently extended similar arrangements.

State University of New York Chancellor Jim Malatras and Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) President Mary E. Sullivan announced on Friday (Nov. 27) an extension on an agreement to conduct free, mandatory testing for CSEA-represented employees at SUNY state-operated colleges, universities, and hospitals. The memorandum of understanding follows a similar arrangement last week between SUNY and United University Professions (UUP) for represented employees.
SUNY Chancellor and UUP president announce agreement to extend free, mandatory COVID-19 testing
State University of New York Chancellor Jim Malatras and United University Professions (UUP) President Frederick E. Kowal announced on Friday (Nov. 20) an agreement to extend mandatory, free COVID-19 testing for all UUP-represented employees through the end of the spring semester. In September, SUNY reached agreements with UUP, The Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA), the New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF), and the Police Benevolent Association of New York State (PBANYS) to conduct routine testing of all union-represented employees.

2021 Option Transfer
We have received notice that the health insurance rates for 2021 have been established. The deadline for changing health insurance options is December 31, 2020. The 2021 Health Insurance Choices booklet, which outlines the benefits of each plan, is available here.
OSU Clothing Allowance Announcement
The Operational Services Unit (OSU) clothing allowance is back for fiscal year 2020-2021. The payment to individuals is limited to $65.00 per fiscal year, for each full-time OSU employee performing traditional “hands-on” operational duties and who were on the payroll on October 1, 2020.
Travel Advisory Announcement
New York State updated its guidelines related to travel outside of New York State* on November 4, 2020.
For travelers who were out-of-state for more than 24 hours: Travelers must obtain a test within three days of departure, prior to arrival in New York.
*The traveler must, upon arrival in New York, quarantine for three days.
