Telecommuting Policy Extended through July 2, 2021

SUNY Oswego Phased Retirement Program

The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce a newly developed SUNY Oswego Phased Retirement Program. We know that planning for retirement is a highly individualized process and there are many factors to consider. This spring, those planning for retirement have another option. Thoughtfully designed to allow an employee to gradually transition into retirement by working less than full-time, it is our hope that this program will support you with your retirement planning efforts as you plan for your future.

CSEA Annual Leave Accrual Cap Extension

We are pleased to inform you that the annual vacation accrual cap for CSEA employees has been extended. Normally, any vacation accruals in excess of 40 days at the close of business on March 31st are forfeited to bring vacation leave credits down to 40 days on April 1st. However, unused annual leave can now be carried over for an additional period through December 31, 2021.

These changes will automatically be reflected in the SUNY Time and Attendance system.  No action on your part is necessary.

SUNY Self-Service Options

As a reminder, SUNY Oswego employees can access the Human Resources Self-Service module which allows employees to update personnel information via the SUNY HR portal (same system used for time and attendance). It is a good time of year to take a look at your information and make any necessary updates!

Employees Granted Time-Off for COVID-19 Vaccinations

Governor Cuomo recently signed legislation granting employees time off to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Effective immediately, employees will be granted up to four hours of excused leave per injection that does not need to be charged against any other leave the employee has earned or accrued. For State employees, time off to receive the COVID-19 vaccination can be requested by using the non-chargeable drop down menu in Time and Attendance. SUNY programmers are working to add a specific non-chargeable category as soon as possible.

Change in Supervisor

To process a change in supervisor for an employee:

1.) Meet with the employee to advise employee of the change in their supervisor.

2.) After meeting with the employee, document the change in supervisor through a letter to the employee (template).

UUP Salary Equity Study

During negotiations for the 2016-2022 State/UUP Agreement, the parties agreed to develop guidelines and a methodology for a salary equity study to be conducted at each campus. The purpose of such study is to identify compression and inversion for UUP-represented employees. Salary inversion may exist when new employees are hired at salaries higher than experienced employees; compression may exist when salaries of experienced employees fail to maintain distance above salaries of new employees.
