Peer Tutor 

Peer tutors are model students who assist others with course content, academic coaching and writing. Being an academic position, the peer tutor role has several minimum requirements.  

Requirements

  • maintain a cumulative and current GPA of at least 2.75
  • be in good academic standing
  • earn a B+ or greater in courses tutored
  • at least one academic reference
  • submit two writing samples for review (writing tutor applicants only)
  • satisfactorily complete GST308 - Peer Tutor Training during first semester on staff (held on Fridays from 3-5p)

Peer tutors are compensated at an hourly rate based on experience. The starting pay rates for undergraduate and graduate tutors in January 2027 are $17.85 and $19.85 respectively. 

The Spring 2027 peer tutor job listing will be posted on Handshake from November 20 - January 15. Interviews will be held over Winter Break via Zoom.
