Peer Tutor

Peer tutors are model students who assist others with course content, study skills, writing and technology. Being an academic position, the peer tutor role has several minimum requirements.

Requirements

maintain a cumulative and current GPA of at least 2.75
be in good academic standing
earn a B+ or greater in courses tutored
at least one academic reference
submit two writing samples for review (writing tutor applicants only)
satisfactorily complete GST308 - Peer Tutor Training during first semester on staff

Peer tutors are compensated at an hourly rate based on experience. The starting pay rates for undergraduate and graduate tutors in January 2026 are $17.35 and $19.35 respectively.
