Where to Start

with Accessibility Resources

Welcome!

The Office of Accessibility Resources is dedicated to working with the faculty and staff on campus to meet the needs of students with disabilities. If you find that you are in need of an accommodation during your time at SUNY Oswego, our office can help provide you with resources to ensure your success.

We're so happy to have you here.  Learn more below about what resources are available to you, how to register with our office, and more.

How to Register for Accommodations

If you're finding that you are in need of an accommodation during your time here at SUNY Oswego, you can register for the semester with our office! Stop by 155 Marano Campus Center to fill out a "Student Information Form", which lets the office know more about who you are and what accommodations you're hoping to acquire for the semester.

Following that paperwork, you will get the opportunity to meet with someone from our team to discuss your disability and what accommodations would best work for you.

The Office of Accessibility Resources is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm during the Fall semester.

Step One: Fill out the Registration Form

Whether you're a returning, transfer, or new student; we require all students to register through our office each semester. Email [email protected] today to begin your journey to success.

Step Two: Upload Supporting Documentation

Supporting documentation can look different depending on each student's situation. These may include an IEP or 504 plan from high school, accommodation letters from other colleges; as well as reports or assessments from medical care providers, psychologists, mental health providers, and/or other sources. You are given the option to upload these within your myARO portal.

If you don't have any of these forms of documentation, that is completely fine. When you meet with one of our Assistant Directors, they will discuss options that can still support your success during your time here.

Documetation Guidelines

Our team can provide resources that may help guide students to get documentation for the first time or obtain updated documentation.

Step Three: Meet with Our Team

After completing your registration form, your last step is to meet with one of the professional staff from the Office of Accessibility Resources to discuss your request. This interactive process allows us to better serve you by ensuring you're getting all the accommodations that would best suit your situation.

Once a staff member looks over your information, they will contact your SUNY Oswego email to set up a time to meet.

Step Four: Receive Your Accommodation Letter

Once you meet with someone from the Accessibility Resources team and are approved for accommodations, you will receive a letter to your email called an "Accommodation Letter." This document serves as your official registration with the Office of Accessibility Resources at SUNY Oswego. After you receive this letter, it will be your responsibility to send it to the professor(s) of the courses that you are seeking accommodations for. You will not receive accommodations if you do not send this document to your professor(s).

Accommodation Letters are valid for one semester only. Don't forget to re-register each semester!

Step Five: Re-Register Each Semester!

Knowing that each term can offer courses that require a different versions of learning, we require our students to re-register through the office each semester. This process goes a lot smoother because you don't often need to resubmit documentation and meet with someone from our team. Plus, it ensures you're getting your most helpful accommodations each semester you attend SUNY Oswego!
