Staffing and services in our residential communities are limited during break periods. Therefore, in order to maintain necessary security, special policies are in effect above and beyond academic year policies for the University and Residence Life and Housing. Residents who receive approval to remain in housing during a break period are responsible for abiding by the protocols stated below.
Break Housing is not guaranteed and all requests are subject to approval. You will need to provide your reason for the Break Housing request. Approved reasons include students needing to remain on campus to complete an academic or athletic obligation, students experiencing home insecurity, transportation challenges, or students whose home address is out of the country or state, being a break RA or other reason not listed here.
The following policies and protocols are in effect for break housing:
- All University and Residence Life and Housing policies are in effect.
- Students approved for break housing will use their student ID or a break fob to operate the front entrance door for the building. Students should tightly close the door behind them to ensure that it latches and locks upon exit or entry.
- Limited meal service will be provided during the break period, please refer to the Auxiliary Services website for details.
- Visitors and Guests are not permitted in the residence halls at any point during the break period.
- Front Desk services and mail delivery are suspended during this time.
- In case of emergency, please contact:
- Residence Life and Housing, 303 Culkin Hall, 315-312-2246 during business hours (Monday - Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm, excluding holidays).
