Break Housing Agreement

During break periods, staffing and services in our residential communities are limited. Therefore, in order to maintain necessary security, special policies are in effect above and beyond academic year policies for the University and Residence Life and Housing. Be sure to review the Break Housing Agreement below before applying for break housing. Residents who receive approval to remain in housing during a break period are responsible for abiding by the protocols stated below.

Break Housing is not a guarantee and requests are not automatically approved. In your request, you will need to provide reasoning for Break Housing accommodation. Approved reasons typically include students needing to remain on campus to complete an academic or athletic obligation, students experiencing home insecurity, or students whose home address is out of the country.

The following policies and protocols are in effect for break housing:

  1. All University and Residence Life & Housing policies are in effect.
  2. Students approved for break housing will use their student ID or a break fob to operate the front entrance door for the building. Students should tightly close the door behind them to ensure that it latches and locks upon exit or entry.
  3. Students approved for break housing must provide and prepare their own meals when the dining halls are closed. While the kitchens will be available, they are required to clean all equipment and surfaces after each use.
    -  When the dining halls are in operation over a break period, students (with the exception of residents in The Village) are required to have a break meal plan and will incur charges for the break meal plan. Please contact Dining Services for more information.
  4. Visitors and Guests are not permitted in the residence halls at any point during the break period. This includes SUNY Oswego students who do not have permission to stay on campus during this time.
  5. Front Desk services and mail delivery are suspended during this time.
  6. In case of emergency, please contact:

    -  Residence Life and Housing, 303 Culkin Hall, ext. 2246 during business hours (Monday - Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm, excluding holidays).
    -  All after hours, weekend, and holiday emergencies should be reported to University Police, ext. 5555.

By signing this I do hereby acknowledge that I have read and understood the Break Housing Agreement and agree to follow all policies and protocols outlined.
