Break Housing

During break periods, staffing and services in our residential communities are limited. Therefore, in order to maintain necessary security, special policies are in effect above and beyond the University and Residence Life and Housing policies.

Be sure to review the Break Housing Agreement before applying for break housing, as residents who receive approval to remain in housing during a break period are responsible for abiding by the protocols stated in this document.

Break Housing Scholarship Application

A limited number of on-campus Break Housing Scholarships are awarded to students in need of on-campus housing during summer. Residential students who have applied for summer break housing in the residence halls and are in need of financial support due to circumstances beyond their control (housing insecurity, financial hardship) are eligible to apply.

To apply:

  • Complete the summer housing application at myhousing.oswego.edu during the application period.
  • Complete the break housing scholarship application. Scholarship applications should be submitted prior to the start of the break housing period. Students wishing to apply for the scholarship may do so by using their housing portal. This scholarship only covers housing costs, it does not cover the costs of meals for the break period.

Once students apply, their application will be reviewed and an outcome will be determined. Students will then be notified. If they are awarded, Residence Life and Housing will assign them housing for the break/session and apply the scholarship to the student’s account. If the student does not receive the housing scholarship, they may:

  • cancel their summer housing application and find other arrangements or
  • receive a summer housing assignment and charges will be added to the student account. The student will be financially responsible for all housing and dining costs.

Application will include:

  • Brief description of the circumstances and need for financial support associated with the break housing cost.
  • The ability to upload additional documentation from the Office of Financial Aid and/or Students Accounts (i.e. Financial forms. Detailed description of the need for scholarship).
