Vaccination Policy

The SUNY COVID-19 Vaccine Policy has been updated as of July 28, 2023. Vaccines are not required at this time as a condition of enrollment. However, SUNY reserves the authority to change this policy at any time because of changes in local conditions or due to requirements imposed by Federal, State or local authorities.

Booster Shots are Highly Recommended

All students are strongly encouraged to stay up to date on vaccinations as defined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including obtaining any booster authorized by the U.S Food and Drug Administration and recommended by the CDC for their age group.

Submit Your Vaccination/Booster Record

Submit your COVID-19 vaccine records, including booster shots, to Health Services via the Medicat Patient Portal, using the instructions below. Alternatively, students may submit their vaccination/booster information via email to [email protected] or via fax to 315-312-5409. 

How to Submit Vaccine Records

New Guidelines

As of July 2023, the CDC guidelines for vaccinations and boosters are as follows:

  • Everyone aged 6 years and older should get 1 updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to be up to date. 
  • People aged 65 years and older may get a 2nd dose of the updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. 
  • People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised may get additional doses of updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. 
  • Children aged 6 months–5 years may need multiple doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be up to date, including at least 1 dose of updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, depending on the number of doses they’ve previously received and their age. 
  • COVID-19 vaccine recommendations will be updated as needed.
