Advocacy Committee

Led by representatives Darby Faublas and Angela Stoutenger, this committee ensures that the voices, perspectives, and contributions of professional staff are respected and meaningfully integrated into campus decision-making. The committee tracks professional representation gaps, coordinates ex-officio union relationships, reviews personnel policies, and reports recommendations back to the Faculty Assembly.

Community and Mentorship Committee

Led by representatives Grace Maxon-Clarke and Jackie Wallace, this committee fosters a sense of institutional belonging and connection. Its portfolio includes developing and maintaining communication channels, a professional mentorship program, coordinating social activities, and supporting newcomer orientations.

Professional Development and Recognition Committee

Led by representatives David Runge and Holli Stone, this committee organizes skill-building workshops, resources, and pathways for career learning. It is responsible for organizing opportunities to connect and reviewing professional development recognition as well as sharing resources for professional opportunities and programs. What is the difference between the Professional Staff Council (PSC) and unions like UUP?

The PSC is a shared governance body dedicated to policy, campus culture, and strategic initiatives. Our role is to advise the administration and collaborate with the Faculty Assembly to improve the professional experience at SUNY Oswego. While we advocate for systemic changes that benefit all non-classified staff, unions such as UUP and CSEA are the designated representatives for collective bargaining, contractual terms, and legal employment protections.

Who represents my department?

PSC Seats and Terms are updated annually. If you wish to become a part of our representation, please reach out using our contact information below.

Can I attend PSC meetings if I am not an elected representative?

Absolutely. PSC meetings are open to all professional, unclassified staff at the university. We encourage all professional staff to attend, observe, and participate in our open discussions. Only elected representatives can vote. Check the PSC Google calendar for meeting schedules, Zoom links, and physical locations.

How does the PSC represent my concerns to the administration?

The PSC acts as an advisory partner to campus leadership and the Faculty Assembly. We identify key themes through a needs assessment survey and direct feedback forms, and then translate those insights into policy recommendations. By maintaining a seat at the table, we ensure that the professional staff perspective is meaningfully included in broader campus decision-making.

How can I address personal grievances or individual personnel concerns?

The PSC focuses on systemic, campus-wide issues rather than individual personnel matters. If you have a specific conflict, private grievance, or individual employment concern, please reach out directly to your Human Resources department or your union representative. These are the appropriate, confidential channels for addressing private or contractual personnel issues.
