This scholarship was established by Marilyn Burkell Roth ’63 and John Robert Roth ’64 to assist a student who is making a life change to better him/herself. To qualify for this award, a student must:
- Apply during freshman, sophomore or junior year (having completed 0-86 credits, including transfer credits). Seniors and graduate students may also apply for the award, if planning to attend SUNY Oswego the following year.
- Submit an essay highlighting desire to earn a “Second Chance”. Applicants need to demonstrate a sincere desire to effect a major change in the direction and goals for his/her life. Second Chance applicants may have experienced a habitually poor lifestyle or have suffered an unfortunate setback in attitude and /or lifestyle. A poor lifestyle may have been self- inflicted or the result of some outside event(s).
- Submit at least one (1) recommendation/reference from a recent teacher, employer, counselor and/or military commissioned officer who would support your application for a ”Second Chance”.
