Graduate Education Opportunity Program

SUNY Oswego’s Graduate Educational Opportunity Program (GEOP) provides financial assistance to New York State Opportunity Program (EOP, HEOP, SEEK) graduates admitted to a graduate degree program at SUNY Oswego.

Graduate Educational Opportunity Program (GEOP) Eligibility

The Graduate Education Opportunity Program (GEOP) is designed to support qualified students who meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate Educational Opportunity Program Participation
Applicants must have earned their undergraduate degree while enrolled in an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), or CUNY Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge (SEEK) program. This must be indicated during the application process.
  • Documentation
Applicants are required to submit official documentation verifying their prior participation in an opportunity program. This documentation must be sent directly from the institution to the Division of Graduate Studies. Institutions may submit the verification on official letterhead via email to [email protected].
  • Graduate Enrollment
Applicants must be enrolled in a SUNY Oswego graduate degree program.
  • New York State Residency
Applicants must be residents of New York State.

Important:
GEOP funding is contingent on the availability of funds each academic year. Funding levels may vary depending on the number of eligible students and available resources.

How to Apply

  1. Indicate Educational Opportunity Program Participation
When completing your graduate application, be sure to indicate that you previously participated in EOP, HEOP, or SEEK during your undergraduate studies.
  2. Submit Verification
    • External Applicants: If you completed an educational opportunity program at an institution other than SUNY Oswego, you must arrange for an official verification memo from your undergraduate EOP Director to be sent directly to [email protected]. To be considered official, the memo must come directly from the institution, on institutional letterhead.
    • SUNY Oswego Alumni: If you participated in EOP, HEOP, or SEEK at SUNY Oswego, no additional documentation is required.
