Travel by Bus, Train, or Airplane:
Students without a car can travel from SUNY Oswego to Syracuse to connect with regional and long-distance transportation. Syracuse Hancock International Airport and the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center (RTC), which serves trains and buses, are approximately one hour from campus.
Option 1: Centro Bus from Campus to Syracuse
Centro Route #246 connects SUNY Oswego with Syracuse, including the Regional Transportation Center (RTC), where students can connect to Amtrak trains and other bus services.
- Destination: Syracuse Regional Transportation Center and other Syracuse-area stops.
- Cost: Reduced fare of $2 each way with a valid SUNY Oswego student ID and SA sticker. Cash only.
- Schedules: Service times vary by weekday and weekend.

Option 2: Travel by Train
Amtrak trains depart from Syracuse's Regional Transportation Center (RTC). Students can connect to destinations throughout New York and beyond.
- Departure location: Syracuse RTC.
- Estimated cost: RTC$52 - $75 when purchased in advance; fares vary.

Option 3: Travel by Intercity Bus
Greyhound, Trailways, and other intercity bus services provide transportation to Syracuse's Regional Transportation Center (RTC). From there, students can connect to Centro Route #246 to return to campus.
- Departure/arrival location: Syracuse RTC.
- Planning tip: Compare schedules and fares, and allow enough time to transfer between services.
Option 4: Travel by Airplane
Greyhound Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) is the closest airport to SUNY Oswego.
- Airport transportation: Centro does not provide direct service between the airport and SUNY Oswego.
- Option for reaching campus: CentroTake a taxi, Uber, Lyft or other transportation approximatley 7 miles from the airport to the Syracuse RTC, then take Centro #246 to campus.
- Important: Centro service from Syracuse to Oswego is limited. Check the current schedule carefully before book a flight. Missing the last bus my require an overnight stay or alternative transportation.

- Allow transfer time: Delays can cause you to miss your connecting bus or train.
Option 5: Take an Uber or Lyft to the RTC or Airport
Students can use a rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft to travel between SUNY Oswego and Syracuse's Regional Transportation Center (RTC) or Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR).
- To the RTC: Request an Uber or Lyft from campus to the Syracuse Regional Transportation Center to connect with Amtrak trains or intercity buses.
- To the airport: Request a ride directly from campus to Syracuse Hancock International Airport for departing flights.
- From the airport or RTC to campus: Students arriving in Syracuse can also use Uber or Lyft to travel directly to SUNY Oswego, including during times when Centro buses are unavailable.
- Cost: Fares vary based on distance, time of day, demand, and driver availability. Trips between Syracuse and Oswego can be expensive, so check the estimated fare in the app before booking.
- Planning tip: Schedule or request your ride in advance when possible, allow enough time to reach your departure point, and confirm your pickup location.
Important: Rideshare availability in the Oswego area may be limited, particularly late at night or during busy travel periods. Do not assume a driver will be available immediately. Check the app before relying on this option.
Option 6: Non-Contracted Charter Bus Service with SUNY Oswego — Break Transportation to the Greater NYC Area
A non-contracted charter bus service with SUNY Oswego provides bus service between SUNY Oswego and the greater New York City area during select college breaks.
The company contracts with private charter bus operators, markets routes under its own brand, and sells tickets directly to passengers.
- Service: Direct charter bus trips between SUNY Oswego and the greater NYC area, including Long Island, Westchester County, NY, and Bergen County, NJ, during designated college breaks.
- Convenience: Students can depart from campus without needing to travel separately to the Syracuse Regional Transportation Center.
- Reservations: Tickets must be purchased in advance, and service is available only on scheduled travel dates.
- Planning tip: Check departure and return dates, pickup locations, luggage policies, and ticket availability before making travel arrangements.
