We are dedicated to helping our customers maintain a healthy lifestyle, by providing the information and support needed to make healthy choices.

Our registered dietitian works with our team to ensure a variety of fresh and nutritious options are offered on our residential dining menus. We are committed to working with students to meet their individual dietary needs. Please let us know if you have a food allergy/intolerance or other special dietary need by completing the dietary needs form.

Registered Dietitian

Our Dining Services team is committed to supporting your individual dietary needs. Students are encouraged to connect directly with our on-campus Dining team for assistance with everyday needs such as navigating dining locations, understanding allergen information, and identifying menu options that fit their preferences or dietary restrictions.

For more personalized nutrition guidance, students with specific medical dietary needs, food allergies, or nutrition-related concerns may be referred for one-on-one consultations with a registered dietitian.

Food allergies

Please let us know if you have a food allergy/intolerance or other special dietary need by completing the dietary needs form.

What can you do, in partnership with Oswego Dining Services, to have a rewarding dining experience?
  • Students who have an allergy or dietary restriction and will need accommodations made will need to fill out this form, have their physician fill out the bottom half. Once this is completed you should meet with our registered dietitian.
  • We will review our policies and procedures that we have in place to keep you safe.
  • Know your allergy. Choose menu items that you know are safe with your specific food restriction. If in doubt, use the app or ask an employee! We are always happy to show you labels or recipes.
  • Be your own advocate.
  • Create relationships with Oswego Dining Services Staff. This will help make your dining experience less stressful. We are here to help you and we look forward to working with you. We believe that by working together we can help you determine menu items that fit your food restriction
  • Use our online menu and app.
  • Review the menu items served at the dining center before you arrive.
  • Please realize if you need to have a special menu item prepared, it will take extra time. Please plan accordingly.
In the case of an allergic reaction while in the dining center:

The Oswego Dining Services procedure is to contact 911 immediately and request medical assistance. Following an incident, the dining center manager will inform the Director and Registered Dietitian. When the timing is appropriate, the dining center manager and/or Oswego Dining Services registered dietitian will follow up with that student to check on their situation and well-being. Oswego Dining Services is committed to providing an allergy friendly dining experience. However, the ingredients and nutritional content of food items served in the campus dining locations may vary. In addition, manufacturers may change their product formulation or consistency of ingredients without our knowledge, and product availability may fluctuate. While we make every effort to identify ingredients, we cannot assure against these contingencies. It is ultimately YOUR responsibility to determine whether to question ingredients or eat selected foods. Oswego Dining Services cannot guarantee the safety of students with life-threatening allergies.

Auxiliary Services Oswego Dining will assume no liability for any adverse reactions that may occur in the
dining facilities.

Nutrition Fact Labels

Every selection from our Residential Dining Center menus have detailed nutrition fact labels.  You can also calculate the total nutrients for items on your tray by clicking on the plus sign (+) to add items to the My Plate tab. You will notice that we identify all of our vegetarian items online with the Vegetarian  Vegetarian symbol  symbol.

If you are looking for a healthier option check out our Heart Healthy entrees identified the the Heart healthy  Heart healthy symbol symbol. These options all meet a set of nutritional criteria:

< 500 Calories
≤ 7 g Saturated Fat
< 30% Recommended Daily Value for Total Fat
≤ 700 mg Sodium
≤ 90 mg Cholesterol

Religious and Dietary Accommodations

Ramadan

Those observing Ramadan will have some special meal options available to help with the breaking of the fast.

One meal will be deducted from your account for each dine-in meal attended or bag meal received.
Laker Dining Dollars, Cash, or Cards can be used to purchase a meal for those without  a meal plan.

We are requesting you sign up before 3 pm daily so we have an accurate meal count for the day. This must be done each day and meal you choose to dine during Cooper's special hours or receive a Ramadan Bag Meal to Go.

Halal

All dining halls offer at least one Halal Entree and Side per meal. Cooper Dining Hall has extended Halal options at every meal including Halal certified meats. Look for the blue H on the online and in person menus for the Halal options. Contact our Director of Resident Dining at 315-312-2331 if you are in need of assistance with accommodations. 

Lent

Every Friday during Lent look for fish, seafood, and meatless options in the dining halls during lunch and dinner. See the online menu for the daily options.
