GLI connects research, teaching, and community partnerships to protect freshwater resources, prepare students for environmental careers, and support the Lake Ontario region through science-informed decision-making.

The Great Lakes Institute at SUNY Oswego brings together researchers, students, and community partners to advance understanding and stewardship of the Great Lakes and their surrounding ecosystems. Through interdisciplinary research, regional partnerships, and hands-on learning opportuniites, the Institute fosters innovation in environmental science, sustainability, and policy. Our mission is to promote the long-term health and resilience of the Great Lakes region for future generations.
