We are excited that you have chosen SUNY Oswego as your destination for graduate school. 

In-Person Graduate Student Orientation

You're invited to join us for our in-person student orientation at the start of the fall semester at both the Syracuse and Oswego campuses. 

Attending Orientation will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Meet and network with your fellow graduate students
  • explore resources available to support your success
  • receive recommendations from current students and faculty about achieving success in your graduate studies
  • take home grad school swag

Syracuse Campus Orientation

The Syracuse Campus Orientation is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 5:30pm - 8:00pm in Room 129. The Syracuse Campus is located at 2 Clinton Square, Syracuse, NY 13202. Please see the Directions & Parking for information about parking.

Oswego Campus Orientation

The Oswego Campus Orientation is scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2024 from 10:15AM - 1PM in Room 215 in Penfield Library. See Parking Services for a campus map and directions.

Graduate Assistant Orientation

Incoming graduate assistants will receive a special invitation to attend the Graduate Assistant Orientation at the Oswego Campus.  Don't hesitate to contact the Graduate Studies Office with any questions. Graduate Student Orientation is scheduled for Friday, August 23 from 9:00AM - 10:00AM in Room 215 Penfield Library on the Oswego Campus.


Online Graduate Student Orientation

Our asynchronous online orientation for all matriculated graduate students opens up 2-weeks before the start of all terms/semesters in our digital learning environment, Brightspace. Our online orientation will set you at ease with modules on belonging and finding a sense of community, academic expectations and learning strategies, and financial wellness while funding your education. We want you to succeed—let us help you get off to a good start.

  1. Login to Brightspace
  2. Scroll down until you see the "My courses section."
  3. Click on the "All" tab, then "Graduate Student Orientation."

Completing the online orientation by the end of the first week of the semester/term will make you eligible for a gift card drawing.
