Bio

Dr. Megan Finnerty is an assistant professor in the Curriculum and Instruction Department. She joined the faculty in fall 2023 with a background in Special Education and inclusive classrooms. She is teaching courses with graduate and undergraduate students on the Oswego and Syracuse campuses. And supervises student teaching and field experiences in public schools across the region. She is a professional member of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).

Research

Dr. Finnerty is currently involved with a research team focused on literacy for students with significant disabilities. She completed her doctoral research on curricular adaptations created for students with significant disabilities across content areas in elementary classrooms. Additionally, she conducted research in the Midwest with former graduate students and colleagues on school, family, and community partnerships and in northern Uganda on including students with disabilities in primary schools.
