Bio

Before joining SUNY Oswego, Dr. Sianturi taught mathematics to K–12 students in Indonesia and worked with preservice teachers in Taiwan and Indiana, bringing twelve years of international teaching experience. From 2021 to 2025, he was an instructor of record at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB), where he taught mathematics content and methods courses and supervised field experiences in mathematics and science education. In April 2025, he received the IUB School of Education’s Outstanding Associate Instructor Award. He also worked as a graduate research assistant on multiple NSF-funded projects at IUB and has served as a co-investigator on MathsThroughStories.org since 2018. From 2017 to 2020, he served as an Associate Research Scientist sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), contributing to seven MOST-funded projects. He also collaborated with researchers at National Taiwan Normal University and International Baccalaureate (IB) teachers to develop teacher performance indicators for 21st-century, competency-based teaching in IB schools.
