Bio

I have been a science teacher for the past 40 years, the past 25 as a professor at SUNY-Oswego, which makes my career as an educator one of the defining characteristics of my life.  While at Oswego I have been refining my practice and commitment to the positive transformative power learning can offer engaged students.  Beyond my classroom and studio efforts with preservice teachers and burgeoning artists, my efforts encompass the practical challenge of creating art that expresses fundamental themes in science, mathematics, and human nature, along with more esoteric research into how quantum foundations underlie our reality in general and underpin consciousness in specific.  My future efforts will lean into the assertion that all acts of creation, whether in the laboratory, or studio, involve iterative levels of success and failure that inform and build off one another, towards realization of some productive aim. Success of further accomplishments, be they constructing concrete artifacts, or generating abstract ideals, will always be a negotiation between what understanding, skill, and dedication make possible; helping students find their own pathways to success being the goal.
