
Bio
Dr. Jennifer Kagan is an Associate Professor who has been working at SUNY Oswego since 2001. She is the graduate literacy coordinator for the MSED in literacy, which is now a robust, fully online program. Dr. Kagan teaches undergraduate classes in content area literacy and an assessment and intervention class to adolescence education majors. She also teaches an assessment course and a literacy foundations course to graduate students. Dr. Kagan worked at the Onondaga Nation School, a K-8 Native American school in Syracuse, for eighteen years as a literacy coach, professional development provider, yoga teacher, academic fair judge, and an award-winning tennis coach. She is interested in intersectionality in YA (Young Adult) literature and cutting- edge pedagogy. At Oswego, she is the Jewish Life and crew team advisor. She is an avid tennis player and poet who closes department meetings with a newly created poem.
