Center for Business Excellence and Transformation

Welcome to The Center for Business Excellence and Transformation (CBET) at SUNY Oswego

Our Mission
The Center for Business Excellence and Transformation (CBET) connects students, faculty, and partners across disciplines to co-create innovative solutions that strengthen local economies and prepare students for meaningful careers. Through consulting, experiential learning, and collaboration with industry and community leaders, CBET empowers students to make a measurable impact in Central New York and beyond.

Our Vision
CBET will serve as a regional engine for talent development, innovation, and inclusive growth. By embedding students at the heart of real-world projects and regional transformation efforts, CBET will foster a new generation of leaders who are equipped to solve complex problems and drive sustainable impact across sectors.

Maureen Melville brings a unique blend of academic leadership, industry expertise, and community engagement to her role as Director of the Center for Business Excellence and Transformation (CBET). Since joining SUNY Oswego in 2018, she has served as a visiting assistant professor, faculty career mentor, and Dean’s Leadership Fellow—contributing to fundraising, student mentorship, and program development.

Melville played a key role in launching the Sales Triathlon competition and developing the Sales Minor, now the College of Business and Entrepreneurship's largest minor.  Her decade-plus career in advertising, digital marketing, and sales leadership includes roles at The Post Standard/Advance Media NY and Veritiv, where she consistently delivered results in revenue growth and client success.

In addition to her corporate background, she has led digital strategy and fundraising efforts for the nonprofit Families FIRST, securing over $250,000 to support families of children with autism.

Melville holds an MBA from SUNY Oswego and a BS in Business Administration from RIT, with a double major in marketing and international business. A recipient of SUNY Oswego’s Outstanding Professorship Award, she is a passionate advocate for real-world learning and student success.

“CBET will provide mentorship, career development, and hands-on learning experiences that prepare students to lead, innovate, and give back. When our students succeed, the entire community benefits.”
