National Science Foundation Grant

SUNY Oswego and the EPIIC Grant

SUNY Oswego is part of the Cross-Continental Collaboration Coalition (C4) with California State University, Chico; University of Central Oklahoma; Central Washington University; and Weber State University. This national partnership focuses on building stronger industry connections, expanding research, and preparing students for the careers of tomorrow.

Our campus team — Dr. Kristen Croyle, Dr. Michele Thornton, Dr. Mohammad Tajvarpour, Dr. Mohammad Islam, and Dr. Hui Zhang — is leading the launch of the Center for Business Excellence and Transformation (CBET). CBET will connect students, faculty, businesses, and community partners to drive innovation and economic growth in Central New York.

A signature initiative will be the SUNY Oswego STEP Conference, an annual event bringing together students, entrepreneurs, and experts to share ideas and explore new opportunities in science, technology, and business.

Mohammad Tajvarpour, Associate Professor Marketing

"The EPIIC grant supporting the CBET Center at SUNY Oswego represents an exciting opportunity for collaboration both within our campus and with other institutions across the country. It enables us to build capacity for cross-institutional partnerships that will benefit our students and strengthen connections with regional businesses."

Mohammad Islam, Associate Professor Physics, Department Chair

"The EPIIC grant is helping bridge the gap between lab research on fundamental science and the wider communities that include, funding agencies, startup businesses, investors and most importantly, members of the general public."

Hui Zhang, Associate Professor Electrical Engineering

"CBET fosters a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment that transforms experiential learning for engineering students through innovation and collaboration with industry and community leaders. By bridging the gap between academic preparation and the evolving needs of industry, CBET empowers students with the skills, mindset, and experience to drive meaningful impact in their careers and communities."
