Expectations and Process

Position synopsis

Oswego Admissions Representatives (OAR’s) will function as professionals in support of the college admissions and enrollment efforts. The primary purpose of this voluntary position is to increase personal contact with prospective students by a variety of means, such as leading campus tours.

Selection process

Please be aware that although the OAR program is voluntary, it is a very prestigious and selective program. An interview will be required for all applicants, and if accepted, further training and an evaluation will follow.

Training process

  • Attend an initial informational meeting where you will receive our training manual
  • Shadow a minimum of 3 tours by current Admissions tour guides
  • When confident, complete a short quiz on your knowledge of the campus
  • Schedule an evaluation with an Admissions intern
  • Once tour-ready, OAR’s are able to lead their own tours and are eligible for possible employment in the Office of Admissions

Minimum qualifications

● Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA   
● Effective communication skills   
● Demonstrated poise and self-confidence   
● Dependability and commitment to the program
