Testimonials

Director of Student Health Services, Family Nurse Practitioner

Angie Brown, MSN, FNP-BC

I enjoy working in Student Affairs as I get to interact with the students in many ways. I get to provide health care for them, but also educate them and act as a resource. I love their energy, humor and the appreciation they show. It is such a joy coming to work and being able to interact with students daily and knowing you are a part of their journey towards improving themselves.

Assistant Box Office Manager

Harleen Grewal

For the opportunity to work with the younger generations and to help them find their passion. I enjoy the direct impact I can have on students and the wide variety of events I can be involved in. Social, cultural, and recreational events all come from student affairs; anyone can find something they are passionate about.

Director of Student Orientation and Family Engagement

Justin Dickerson

Working in this Division has been one of the greatest work experiences of my life.  I've never worked somewhere that has allowed me to innovate, advocate, and educate our students anywhere near as much as I have been able to here.  I love the many opportunities to grow and develop that our Division provides, as well as the opportunity I have had to make strong lifelong friendships with those I work with.

SUNY Oswego Cares about Students

SUNY Oswego has earned the reputation for providing personalized attention and support to each student. Staff members work with a friendly and welcoming campus environment to remove barriers to student learning, so that students may focus on their academic and college life!

One example, Students Helping Oz Peers (SHOP) opened its doors in October 2016 as the first student-run food and clothing pantry within the SUNY system. The pantry, which is overseen by the Office of the Dean of Students, provides students, faculty and staff with free non-perishable food, toiletries and other goods. Operating SHOP to support our students is a collective endeavor of various partners throughout the Oswego community.

Pumpkin Fun Run and Walk

Another example is the annual Pumpkin Fun Run/Walk planned by the Department of Campus Recreation every fall semester in support of a local not-for-profit organization. This event brings together a variety of participants during Family and Friends Weekend. Many SUNY Oswego employees and their families venture out to support the event, and to interact with and engage with families and students.
