At SUNY Oswego, the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) has one singular focus – helping students be successful throughout their college journey. As a staff, we fundamentally believe that each admitted student has the capacity to graduate. Therefore, we have a responsibility to provide students with support and advocacy as they manage challenges, and with opportunities for learning beyond the classroom that supplement and compliment their courses.

To achieve this, we work collaboratively throughout the Division and across campus in partnership with students. We are unabashedly determined to ensure that students have co-curricular experiences that enhance their educational pursuits and their overall SUNY Oswego experience. With over 190 registered clubs and organizations, there is a place for each student to make new friends, discover new passions, and practice what they are learning in the classroom. The research literature is very clear that the more involved students are, the more likely they are to persist and graduate.

Organizations within the Division also offer ongoing advocacy, support, and problem-solving to help students when they struggle. All college students face obstacles, some personal, some academic. Regardless of the type or the size of the issue, DSA staff members are at the ready to help students navigate it and assist.

I hope that you will reach out to Division of Student Affairs staff members to let us know how we can best assist and support you.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Kerr signature
