Workforce and Leadership Development

The Office of Workforce Innovation and External Relations (OWIER) provides workforce and leadership development opportunities for partners and community members. These programs are aimed at upskilling, preparing, and advancing participants for greater effectiveness and leadership responsibilities.

Small Business Development Center 

SUNY Oswego partners with the Onondaga Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to provide local county residents no-cost business consulting services to help with a start-up or existing business. A SBDC advisor is available via appointment at the OWIER location at 34 E. Bridge St., Oswego.

Instructor Bootcamp Co-Hort 1

Instructor Bootcamp

Established with a grant from the Empire State Development's Office of Strategic Workforce Development, Instructor Bootcamp is taught by SUNY Oswego School of Education faculty and free to qualifying participants.  Professionals from high-demand career fields are recommended by regional workforce development partners and trained to serve as instructors in various regional education and apprenticeship programs.

START-UP NY

SUNY Oswego is a START-UP NY partner university. Sites are available to eligible businesses on or within one mile of the main campus in Oswego, NY and SUNY Oswego’s Syracuse Campus in downtown Syracuse, NY. START-UP NY businesses operate tax-free for 10 years and are required to partner with SUNY Oswego on projects and opportunities that align with the institution’s mission and advance shared goals.
