School of Humanities

At SUNY Oswego’s School of Humanities, you’ll explore the stories, languages, histories and ideas that shape human experience while developing the skills to think critically, communicate clearly and engage with the world in meaningful ways.

From analyzing literature and historical events to studying language, philosophy and cultural expression, the School of Humanities brings together programs that emphasize inquiry, interpretation, creativity and communication. Students engage through writing, discussion, research, creative work, internships and faculty mentorship.

These experiences prepare graduates to think deeply, communicate effectively and apply their knowledge in careers, graduate study and fields that value perspective, storytelling and human understanding.
