Transportation and Basic Needs

If you are in need of transportation, food, housing, mental health services, or other basic needs, read the information below to explore what resources are available. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.

Transportation and Travel Expenses

The Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office will work closely with the Financial Aid Office and Student Accounts Office to have an estimated travel expense included as part of the cost of attendance for all students who are completing a clinical experience or applied learning experience. Please make sure you keep your address updated with the Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office at [email protected].

Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility as the teacher candidate to arrange for transportation to your placement. If you do not have a car, consider carpooling with other teacher candidates going to the same area, or explore the options below.

Life-Threatening Emergencies

For life-threatening emergencies, call University Police at 315-312-5555 or 911.

Counseling Services

To schedule an appointment with a mental health professional, visit the Counseling Services website or call 315-312-4416.

Oz Concern Navigator

For other concerns, visit Oz Concern Navigator or contact the Office of the Dean of Students at 315-312-5483.

Student Emergency Funds

Basic Needs Case Manager

Schedule a case management meeting with the Assistant Dean of Students or call 315-312-5483.

SHOP Food and Clothing Pantry

For food, toiletries, and clothing, visit the SHOP website or visit in person at 3 Penfield Library (located in the basement).

Housing Accommodations During Breaks 

For candidates who live on campus and need accommodations during the breaks, please visit Residence Life and Housing's Break Housing page to get information about deadlines and the break housing application. 

  • Indicate in the application housing is needed for you to complete your clinical experiences. Contact Residence Life and Housing for questions about break housing.
  • Please also note that while there is no application or housing fee, there is a daily fee for meal plans during the winter break. Contact Dining Services with questions about meal plans.
    • SUMMER 2025: If a student would like to be considered for a dining waiver, the student will need to complete this form for the Office of the Dean of Students. Pending their determined eligibility and funding, this waiver is for partial to full coverage of the summer dining bill. It is not a scholarship and it is not guaranteed. The applications will be reviewed and decisions will be sent to applicants starting on May 7th.
  • You can also contact the CPP Office if you have any issues with housing approval.
