Namesake

Penfield Library was named in honor of Lida S. Penfield (1873-1956), Chairman of English Department. An authority on local history, she wrote Stories of Old Oswego, and she helped inaugurate the Torchlight Ceremony in 1936. Penfield Library was opened in 1968.
