Assistant Professor of Caribbean Studies and Spanish
Bio
Dr. Roseli Rojo is an Assistant Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures, with a focus Caribbean studies. Her research focuses on the agency of women and Afro-descendants in Latin America and the Spanish Caribbean since colonial times. Her first book, "Narrating Abya Yala to Children" (2020) won the Pinos Nuevos Essay Award in Cuba. Her academic contributions have been featured in book chapters published by Routledge, the Autonomous University of Mexico and Hypermedia Press, exploring topics related to Colonial Cuba and Mexican cinema.
In addition, her articles have appeared in Latin American Theatre Review, Review: Literature and Arts of the Americas, Hispanic Review, Decimononica Journal, LL Journal and Cine Cubano. She was awarded the Goizueta Foundation Graduate Fellowship by the Cuban Heritage Collection and the Graduate Merit Award Scholarship from the Executive Women of New Jersey.
