Internships and Co-ops

Internships and Co-ops are a great way to learn outside of the classroom and earn academic credit. Whether it's for a semester-long internship or a 6-month co-op, these experiences will help boost your resume and expand your professional network. Most importantly, they give you the opportunity to explore different career options, gain real-world experience, and build confidence.

Experiential Learning Courses

We offer a variety of courses that will help students increase their success in college-- and after college. There are several courses that assist students to assess their strengths, find their purpose, market themselves, and give back to their communities. Using Kolb's model of experiential learning and NACE's Career Readiness Competencies, these courses give students space to reflect upon and articulate the value of their experiences.

Service-Learning

Service-learning is an educational strategy that pairs meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience and strengthen communities. We connect students with our local not-for-profit partners so they can collaborate on projects that will sharpen their skills and broaden their worldviews.

SUNY Oswego is one of the 119 U.S. colleges and universities to receive the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, and has received recognition for our service-learning programs.

Student Employment

SUNY Oswego offers opportunities across campus for students to grow professionally and gain the skills necessary to thrive in their future workplace. Each department helps its student staff to prioritize their academics while mentoring them to execute responsibilities that lead to the development of relevant career based competencies.
