Diana Murtaugh is a teacher educator and researcher in the Department of Curriculum &
Instruction at SUNY Oswego, specializing in secondary education, literacy, and TESOL. Her
work is grounded in her years as a secondary English teacher and in clinical mentorship as a
university supervisor, bridging foundational literacy theory and practical classroom practice.
Research Interests
Clinical Mentorship & Supervision: Examining positional power dynamics and
relational structures within the student teaching triad (candidate, cooperating teacher, and
supervisor).
Teacher Agency: Actionable steps and pedagogical autonomy for educators working
within structured or mandated curricula.
English Language Acquisition: Asset-based content-area instruction for English
language learners and the ownership of the English language.
