Bio

Alex Yeung is an Assistant Professor of Linguistics and TESOL at SUNY Oswego, where he also serves as Director of the Linguistics Program and Coordinator of the TESOL Program. A phonologist by training, he uses corpus data and experimental methods to investigate how speakers internalize phonological grammar and how it interacts with other parts of the linguistic system. His research examines crosslinguistic patterns, language contact, and second language learning, with particular interest in how innovative constructions emerge and how learners perceive and produce structures not found in their first language. Much of his recent work focuses on English as a second language, with broader implications for phonological theory and language acquisition.
