Kyle (he/him) is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and certified Child-Centered Play Therapist (CCPT). He is a Japanese and Latvian American and is diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that makes him immunocompromised. He coordinates the Counseling Outreach Peer Educator (COPE) team. You will see him and the team around campus tabling, running programs and workshops, and attending club and organization meetings! He previously worked with individuals, families, and groups in Oswego at a mental health private practice for 9 years and joined the Counseling Center in 2019.

He previously taught in the English and Counseling and Psychological Services departments at SUNY Oswego starting in 2011. He enjoys working on collaborative, creative, and community-driven projects, and enjoys offering therapy that involves expressive arts techniques, including art, music, clay, writing, and storytelling. He also truly believes in the healing power of walking outdoors, sitting by water, listening to music, advocating in your community, and practicing yoga.

Outside of work, Kyle loves reading, learning, advocacy work, and D&D. He is a proud dog dad, and is interested in mutual aid, hip hop, disability justice, and challenging himself to find new and fresh perspectives about the world.
