Jake Hedges is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling, both at SUNY Oswego. Jake is a combat veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan and has previously worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs conducting research and working with homeless veterans. He has experience working with clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, and depression, with an interest in working with marginalized communities and the LGBTQ+ students. Jake is passionate about social justice and working with others to heal from systems of oppression.

In his free time, Jake loves spending time with his wife, dog and cat. He loves movies, spooky stuff, and table top gaming. He is an avid reader and has an ever growing “must read” list.

Jake is a firm believer in the power of using play to help people grow and heal, no matter your age. Mindfulness is also a growing interest for Jake, along with using creative expression to process emotions and better understand ourselves.
