Accessibility Training Resources

By April 24, 2027, all of our digital materials—including anything delivered through a web browser or mobile app—need to meet specific accessibility guidelines. Since this covers most of our digital content, meeting these standards isn’t just a goal; it’s a legal requirement for our institution.

We each have a role to play in this work. There are plenty of opportunities offered to give our campus community a clear understanding of our collective responsibilities and obligations to create and share digital experiences that everyone can use. Resources offered include:

Faculty Summit

On Wednesday, January 21, SUNY Oswego faculty gathered for an all-day digital accessibility summit, focusing on Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Below are recordings of some of the sessions offered that day.

Access for All: Title II Essentials

Nicole Decker and Rebecca Mushtare cover the basics of the updated regulations related to Title Ⅱ of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA).

Five Principles of Accessibility

Presented by Daniel Laird, Kate DeForest, Casey Raymond, Anna Croyle, and Emily Bovier, this session covers five principles of accessibility: 

  • Identify content types
  • Provide text equivalents
  • Use color carefully
  • Provide descriptive hyperlinks
  • Use clear language

Universal Design for Learning

Chris Hromalik introduces the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, its connection to accessibility efforts, and how UDL can make for effective, efficient and engaging experiences for students.
