Renqian Yang

Renqian Yang earned a B.F.A. in Ceramics from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, China (2009), and an M.F.A. from Syracuse University (2014). She is currently an Associate Professor at SUNY Oswego, NY. Yang's work has been exhibited across the U.S., China, South Korea, and Japan, with notable showcases such as the NCECA concurrent exhibition Mapping the Multiverse (2024), Contemporary Narratives (2023), and Rivers Connect (2021). She also participated in the Shiwan Cup Emerging Artist Ceramic Sculpture Competition in China (2023) and the International KOGEL Award in TOYAMA exhibition in Japan (2020). Yang’s creative path includes solo exhibitions like Retrace at Jingdezhen International Studio (2024), Sounds of the Ephemeral at Fou Gallery (2021), and the Cayuga Museum of History and Art (2019). She has participated in residencies at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts (2017, 2023), Craigardan (2018), Jingdezhen International Studio (2018, 2023), and STARworks, NC (2022), each significantly enriching her practice. Her work was also included in the Korea-China Ceramic Art Exhibition in South Korea (2022, 2023), celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea.


Cara Brewer Thompson

Cara Brewer Thompson began teaching in the Department of Art and Design at SUNY Oswego in the fall of 2004.  She played a key role in launching the Interaction Design program in 2021, alongside her colleague Rebecca Mushtare. Cara is passionate about helping students use technology to create unique and meaningful art and design experiences. Sharing her excitement about cutting edge technology as a creative tool has been a defining feature of her time at SUNY Oswego. Her current work focuses on 3d modeling and design as well as the innovative use of digital tools to capture the beauty and wonder of the natural world. In her spare time, she enjoys looking at things– sometimes drawing them, gardening , embroidery and wandering about on her 24 acres in Baldwinsville. 

Sofía Luz Pérez

Sofía Luz Pérez is a Mexican American artist born in Austin, Texas in 1989 and raised in central New York. Pérez’s work has been published in the Women Artists’ Datebook by the Syracuse Cultural Workers and in Stone Canoe #8 by the YMCA of Central New York. She has shown her work in numerous galleries including at Soho20 Gallery in New York, NY, the Point of Contact Gallery in Syracuse, NY, Stone Quarry Hill Art Park, in Cazenovia, NY, the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY, and ArtRage Gallery in Syracuse, NY. She graduated with a BFA in Studio Art with a painting concentration from SUNY Oswego in December 2021.
