Begin Your Journey

Your first steps on campus as a new SUNY Oswego student should be getting connected.

Advising Guides

Below is a list of Advising Guides. These are designed to help plan core course work at the two-year institution prior to transferring into Oswego. The lists include core transfer classes directly related to the major at Oswego.

We accept up to 90 total credits from two-year and four-year institutions, including Gen Ed and other courses related to a major. If a student has completed the SUNY General Education requirements or equivalent, they are exempt from Oswego’s specific general education requirements.

Please work with your advisor at the two-year institution for more guidance. These guides are organized using the top 12 transferring majors at SUNY Oswego. We are continuing to add more guides from additional institutions.

Planning Your Transfer

  • Course Equivalencies: Use our Transfer Course Guide to look up how your classes will transfer to Oswego. This guide is for planning purposes only and does not replace an official transfer evaluation.
    • Select the state or nation you are transferring from and submit, using the Get Institutions button.
    • Select the institution you are transferring from and submit, using the Get Courses button.
  • Oswego Catalog: Use the Majors and Minors page of our course catalog to look up the requirements for each major at Oswego.

Transfer Orientation

SUNY Oswego believes that our transfer students are unique and so the Transfer Services office has coordinated with Student Orientation and Family Engagement (SOFE) to create an orientation program just for you. After you pay a tuition deposit you will receive an Orientation packet with lots of great information.

  • Pre-Registration: All incoming students are pre-registered into their first semester of classes. This means that prior to you coming to Orientation, once we receive the New Student Information sheet, our Advisement team of highly qualified advisors are working hard to develop a schedule that meets your needs.
  • The Admissions Office will provide a degree audit for you during your transfer process. Once this is done, your advisor will email and collaborate with you to create your new schedule before the semester begins.
  • At orientation, you will meet with a transfer success advisor to further discuss your needs for the upcoming semester.

Running concurrently alongside our student program, we also have a program for parents and guests to provide them with assistance in making their own transition. Visit Student Orientation and Family Engagement (SOFE) for more details.

If you have any questions about our orientation program, please contact our Orientation Office at 315.312.5522.
