Hundreds of SUNY Oswego campus and community members will go miles against relationship violence during a Yards for Yeardley, a One Love Foundation awareness event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 23.
SUNY has challenged all campuses to hit 50 million yards in walking, running and other movements to go Around the World for Yeardley on a designated day.
The One Love Foundation draws attention to the statistic that out of every three women and one out of every four men will experience relationship violence in their lifetimes. The organization began in 2010 to honor Yeardley Love, a UVA student beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend just weeks before their graduation.
For the April 23 event, participants are asked to show up anytime before 5 p.m. at the Marano Campus Center lawn and to walk or run or roll any distance -- organizers will record distances at the end of participation.
