Announcing New Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Chief Enrollment Officer

Dear Members of the SUNY Oswego Community–

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer H. Louden as SUNY Oswego's new associate vice president for enrollment management and chief enrollment officer, effective November 5. Jennifer will report to Kate Pechenkina, the provost and vice president for academic affairs, will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet, and will serve on both the President’s and the Provost’s Councils.

Jennifer brings 25 years of experience in higher education enrollment leadership, with a strong record of increasing enrollment, strengthening recruitment strategies, and building partnerships across academic and administrative divisions. Her expertise and collaborative approach will be especially valuable as we advance our ambitious goals for enrollment growth and student success.

In this role, Jennifer will lead our enrollment management plan and operations, including admissions, financial aid, and the registrar's office. Working closely with Provost Pechenkina and colleagues across the university, she will focus on strengthening first-year recruitment, enhancing the prospective student experience, expanding opportunities to serve traditional, transfer, and adult learners, and collaborating with colleagues to increase international and graduate enrollment.

Jennifer most recently served as associate vice president for enrollment and dean of undergraduate admission at Loyola University Maryland, overseeing undergraduate and transfer admissions, enrollment marketing and communications, and enrollment technology initiatives. Under her leadership, undergraduate applications rose nearly 23% over three years, culminating in a university record in fall 2025. That year, Loyola also exceeded its first-year enrollment goal, enrolling 1,126 students.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has aligned enrollment strategy with broader institutional priorities. She has worked closely with academic leaders on new program development, strengthened transfer recruitment, and used data and technology to improve recruitment and admissions processes. Her experience also includes enrollment leadership roles at Georgetown University, American University, and Bucknell University.

Jennifer holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Kenyon College and a master's in liberal studies from Loyola University Maryland. She is pursuing a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership for Changing Populations at Notre Dame of Maryland University.

This is an important appointment at a pivotal moment for SUNY Oswego. Enrollment growth is essential to our university's future and to realizing the goals and ambitions of our strategic plan and Vision 4040. As we respond to evolving student needs and expanding educational and workforce opportunities across Central New York and beyond, we must be strategic, innovative, and collaborative in attracting, enrolling, and supporting students. I am confident that Jennifer brings the experience, leadership, and fresh perspective needed to help us move forward with purpose and achieve meaningful results.

I also want to express my sincere appreciation to Rick Buck, who has led the enrollment management team on an interim basis for the past 11 months. His steady leadership, dedication, and service throughout this period of transition have been invaluable to our university. Rick will return to his previous role as Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communication, where his strategic leadership will be instrumental in supporting advancing our enrollment goals.

I also extend my deep thanks to the members of the search committee for their time, thoughtful work, and commitment to identifying the right leader for this important role: Kendra Cadogan, chief diversity and inclusion officer and committee chair; Rodrick Andrews, assistant vice president for admissions and financial aid; Karen Crowe, vice president for marketing and communications; Jamal Coleman, director of operations in the Office of the President; Sandra Delgado, interim director of admissions; Marianne Hromalik, director, School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and associate professor of electrical and computer engineering; Jaylan John, Computer Science major and student representative; Wendy McManus, assistant vice president for intercollegiate athletics; Kate Pechenkina, provost and vice president for academic affairs; Jordan Pritchard, director of the Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) program; Roseli Rojo, assistant professor of Caribbean studies; Heath Wood, vice president for institutional advancement; and Murat Yasar, deputy to the president for strategy, planning, and special projects.

Please join me in welcoming Jennifer to SUNY Oswego. I look forward to working with her as we build a stronger university and create more opportunities for the students and communities we serve.

Remain well,

Peter O. Nwosu, Ph.D.
President
