Dear Members of the SUNY Oswego Community–
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kristen Eichhorn as Vice Provost and Dean of SUNY Oswego at Syracuse, effective August 17, 2026. This title reflects her expanded leadership role from her current position as Dean of Graduate Studies. In this role, she will report to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
In this expanded capacity, Dr. Eichhorn will coordinate graduate and undergraduate studies, provide leadership for the Syracuse campus, and strengthen the alignment between our academic programs and enrollment priorities. Her leadership will enhance our ability to meet the evolving needs of our students, region, and beyond, while providing continuity during an important period of transition in Academic Affairs as Associate Provost Dr. Rameen Mohammadi prepares to retire at the end of December 2026.
As Vice Provost, Dr. Eichhorn will serve as the Provost’s senior deputy, providing strategic leadership across academic programs and university-wide initiatives. Enrollment Management, led by an Associate Vice President, will report to the Vice Provost, strengthening the connection between enrollment strategy and academic planning. As part of this reorganization, the current Vice President for Enrollment Management position will be eliminated.
Dr. Eichhorn brings to this role a strong record of collaborative leadership, strategic vision, and deep commitment to SUNY Oswego. As Dean of Graduate Studies, she has advanced graduate enrollment and strengthened our academic offerings, while twice providing steady leadership during periods of transition—as interim dean of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship and as interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. In each role, she has earned the trust and respect of our faculty, staff, students, and colleagues through thoughtful leadership and an unwavering commitment to access and excellence.
Building on this experience, Dr. Eichhorn is well positioned to advance enrollment growth, strengthen our academic portfolio, and ensure our programs remain innovative, student-centered, and responsive to the evolving needs of our students, region, and communities.
At SUNY Oswego at Syracuse, she will lead the continued transformation of our campus into a vibrant regional center for undergraduate completion and graduate education, workforce development, adult learners, and strategic partnerships. Working with our deans and campus partners, she will expand academic opportunities, deepen relationships with employers and community organizations, and strengthen SUNY Oswego’s presence and impact across Central New York.
Dr. Eichhorn’s breadth of experience, institutional knowledge, and ability to bring people together around shared goals make her well suited for this important role. I am confident that her leadership will advance student achievement, faculty excellence, innovation, and growth, positioning SUNY Oswego for continued distinction.
