Welcome Back, Lakers

Whether you are returning to our beautiful lakeside campus or joining us for the first time, we are so glad you are here. I hope your summer was refreshing. Over the break, I had the honor of traveling to Kenya, Rwanda, and my home country, Nigeria, as part of a SUNY Africa Partnership delegation and to visit family and friends. But no matter where I go, SUNY Oswego is always with me.

This community—its beauty, its heart, its amazing people—keeps calling me back. This fall brings something truly special: the grand opening of our newly renovated Hewitt Hall, where I am standing right now. This $80 million investment in the future of the arts, communication, and media is a bold step forward and a symbol of our commitment to transformative learning at SUNY Oswego.

To our students: this is your time—your time to explore, discover, and create. Whether you are in the classroom, on stage, in the studio, or out on the field, your journey matters, and this is the right place for you.

To our incredible faculty and staff: thank you. Your dedication to our students and our mission is what makes this place truly extraordinary.

Let us begin this semester with energy, optimism, and the strength of our Laker community.
