Campus Resources

SUNY Oswego has a wide variety of resources to support its LGBTQIA+ students, faculty and staff.

Health & Wellness

Our health and counseling centers are co-located and offer a variety of resources from sexual health and wellness to gender-affirming care, support groups and trained and licensed counselors.

  • Sexual Health/Wellness Services & Resources
  • Transgender Care
  • Counseling Center Support Groups
  • The National Institute of Health's Information on HIV Prevention and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis
  • Junk Mail is an online delivery request service for sexual protection that can be delivered to your on-campus mailbox or picked up at 507C Culkin Hall if off-campus
  • Below are places to find condoms on-campus:
    • Health Services (Mary Walker Building)
    • Health Promotion Office (501 Culkin)
    • Vending machines: 3 for $0.75
    • Health Hub 1 and 2: These vending machines are equipped with a variety of items that students may need.  Examples of items in these machines include internal and external condoms, dams, lubricant, finger cots, pregnancy tests, drug deactivation bags, fentanyl testing strips, and maxi pads.
      • There are two Health Hubs on campus-one is in the 24 hour room of Penfield Library (all items are free).  There is a second Health Hub in the Laker Lounge in Marano Campus Center.  This machine has similar items as the machine in the Penfield Library.  This machine also includes reusable menstrual cups and emergency contraception for $10 each (credit card sales only).
    • Marano Campus Center: Be on the lookout for pop-up events!
      • For special events involving large orders, please email Shelly Sloan at least a week in advance
Inclusive Community Safety and Policies

It is important that all members of our campus community have a sense of safety and belonging. This priority is reflected in our policies and the support we have in place for students, faculty and staff.

Gender-Inclusive Housing and All-Gender Restrooms
  • All-gender restrooms provide equal access to public facilities regardless of gender identity or expression. These restrooms will allow LGBTQIA+ students, employees, and visitors, those with disabilities who may require assistance from someone from a different gender, and families with small children to freely use these facilities. These spaces provide additional privacy and access to all without facing discrimination or alienation.
  • Gender Inclusive Housing: The Department of Residence Life and Housing seeks to provide a living environment welcoming to all gender identities; one not limited by the traditional understanding of gender as only male and female. Gender-inclusive housing provides a supportive environment where all residents can feel safe in their housing assignments with respect to their gender identity and gender expression. The gender-inclusive housing option is open to all members of the campus community.
  • All-In Living Learning Community: At SUNY Oswego, we acknowledge the need to provide a supportive and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ students and their allies to call home. Our All-In Living Learning Community is a space where students are able to explore and express their whole selves, including gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, in a supportive and affirming environment.

Students are able to request gender-inclusive housing or a room in the All-In Living Learning Community as a part of their housing application.
